The current competition will be our first competition conducted online. See
how to enter for more information.
The competition has five categories: people, places, still-life,
nature, and alteration of reality. The Lab by Apollo will print and mount

About Fort Dearborn-Chicago Photo Forum
Fort Dearborn-Chicago Photo Forum was founded in 1895. Fort Dearborn
Chicago-Photo Forum's headquarters are in Chicago, located in the renovated
red-brick building which originally was the Dearborn Train Station. We
promote creativity and community and invite all who are passionate about
photography. Our location includes two darkrooms, a studio and a meeting
room. Presentations, workshops, discussions, and outings are scheduled
regularly and are posted on our online calendar.
Fort Dearborn-Chicago Photo Forum has been influential in the history of
photography. We held our first competition and Salon in 1900. Alfred
Stieglitz and Edward Steichen were two of the participants. The Art
Institute of Chicago co-sponsored this event and hosted the winners'
exhibition. (The Forum was previously known as Fort Dearborn Camera Club,
which merged with the Chicago Camera Club in the 1950s.)
Some of the world's most renowned photographers have been involved in our
organization’s activities over the decades, through our print competitions, and
educational programs: Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, Immogen Cunningham,
Margaret Bourke White, Yousuf Karsh, Marc Hauser, Victor Skrebneski and
Yasuhiro Ishimoto (who was named one of Japan's National Treasures).
Pulitzer prize winning photojournalists John White of the Chicago Sun-Times
and Ovie Carter of the Chicago Tribune have given presentations at Fort Dearborn. In 1995, Jay Maisel came to Chicago to contribute to our Centennial celebration.
In 1987, Fort Dearborn hosted “24 Hours in Chicago” a project in which 87 photographers documented Chicago’s neighborhoods and people. A selection of the edited images became a traveling exhibit and a 52-week calendar.
Our organization honors the traditions of the past, while adapting to the evolution of photography, to continue into the future.
